Around Carson Buildings Database

Minden Creamery

1617 Water Street, Minden, NV

Constructed in 1916.

In 1908 the original building was constructed of wood. Cream from the local farms was brought here and placed in one of two 600 gal. vats. From here the cream was processed into butter. By 1915 the facility was producing 3,000 pounds of butter daily. In 1916 a larger facility was built of brick to accommodate the pasteurization that was mandated by a new California law. Although milk, eggs, butter, and cream were available to the locals, the Creamery (the largest in Nevada) had a world market, with 124 cases of butter shipped to China in 1915. In 1969 Bently Nevada Inc. purchased the building to house a portion of their manufacturing operation.

Minden Creamery

Bently moved out several years ago, and the space is now leased out to a variety of businesses.
