The Minden Times

Railroad Ave., Minden, NV

Constructed in 1936.

In 1936 A.E. Haines, a printer and publisher, erected a brick building here to house a print shop and newspaper which he called the Minden Times. The first issue was printed in June of 1936, and many of Minden's youngsters peddled the paper up and down the streets. Mr. Haines and his family struggled for seven years to make a success of his publication, but on December 25, 1942, the final issue was published with this notice: "As much as we regret, with this issue we 'fold up' the Minden Times for the duration of the war." Unfortunately, the paper never returned.

The red brick building was converted into a residential building and has been unoccupied for many years.
